HYY is looking for a local coordinator for SYL’s sustainability project

NEWS

We are looking for a local coordinator for HYY for the ‘Sustainability holds us up, uphold sustainability’ project jointly organised by the National Union for University Students in Finland (SYL) and several student unions. The coordinator will be in charge of organising events in the autumn.

The project is jointly organised by SYL and eight student unions (HYY, ISYY, JYY, LYY, LTKY, ArtSU, TYY & ÅAS). Its aim is to encourage students to consider the global effects of their consumption habits. The project introduces students to the UN’s Agenda 2030 goal number 12, responsible consumption, and aims to increase their understanding of global issues through communication and joint events organised by the participating student unions. Three of the student unions (HYY, TYY & JYY) also organise additional events to complement the joint activities. The project has received funding from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

Five student unions (ISYY, LYY, LTKY, ArtSU & ÅAS) are organising two events in September–November in cooperation with Fairtrade Finland and Pro Ethical Trade Finland. In addition to these two events, HYY, JYY and TYY are also organising other sustainable consumption events during the autumn as part of their sustainable development weeks. These student unions are also hiring separate local coordinators, with remuneration for them included in the project budget.

We are looking for applicants who are interested in sustainability themes, have project management and communication skills, are fluent in Finnish or English and are prepared to organise the events in cooperation with the other organisers. The person selected as the coordinator must commit to participating in joint meetings and working until the conclusion of the project.

Please send your free-form applications and CVs by email to hallinto@hyy.fi by 18 April 2022. HYY’s local coordinator is paid 1342 euros as remuneration. Potential interviews will be held at the beginning of week 17, and the first orientation session for the position is held at the beginning of May. The theme week is tentatively organised on week 41, and the final report on the project is due by the end of November.

HYY emphasises diversity and equality in our activities. We hope to receive as many applications as possible from people with diverse backgrounds. We use anonymous recruitment in the first stage of the application process.
