Moodi ry is a student organisation for Helsinki University students studying statistics or econometrics established in 1968.


Subject and faculty organisations
The University of Helsinki has 11 faculties, each of which has different student organisations. An organisation of students in the same field is called a subject organisation. Several faculties have a faculty organisation that coordinates cooperation between subject organisations. Some multidisciplinary subject associations may operate across faculty boundaries. In addition to events and other activities, subject and faculty organisations often lobby for student interests within the faculty.

Student Nations
Student Nations ate interdisciplinary student associations of different ages and from different disciplines, whose members are usually linked by ties to the same geographical area. Any member of the student union can join a nation, regardless of their field of study, lifestyle or political preferences. People often join a nation on the basis of their region of origin, student accodomodation, hobbies, friendships or family ties, for example. Nations are among the oldest student organisations in Finland. Four of the University of Helsinki’s 15 nations are Swedish-speaking.

IVSA Finland is the Finnish Member Organisation of the International Veterinary Students’ Association. The aim is to make it possible for Finnish veterinary students to meet foreign people and visit foreign universities.

Kendo is the time-honored art of Japanese sword-fighting with the speed and volume levels turned up high. HY Kendo has trained since 1999 under the supervision of both Finnish and international teachers. Beginners’ courses start in January and September.

Mooseksen Potku
The core activity of MoPo, a traditional theology-based soccer club, is playing in the Helsinki lower leagues during the summer. The soccer season starts in April. During the winter season, there are low-threshold futsal sessions open to everyone at Alppila Church. In addition, there are tournaments and other activities throughout the year.

Troijan Hevonen (Troija’s Horse) is an academic horse club working under University of Helsinki. Most of our events require at least some Finnish language knowledge, but as most people talk pretty good English, if you see an non-English event you’re interested in, just contact us and come along!
