1 Situation report on the coronavirus

The organisational sector is reviewing the coronavirus situation every two weeks and will inform you of the situation with the restrictions as well as other possible matters related to the coronavirus situation in the newsletter for organisations.

the Coronasituation has gotten worse both in Helsinki and the whole of Finland. Therefore HYY increases limitations concerning the use of it’s premises, and also has updated it’s recommendations.

2 New Members’ Evening of the Student Organisations Committee 5th of October in Zoom

Please note that event is organised remotely (contrary to earlier information).

We warmly welcome you to our New Members’ Evening 5th of October at 6pm! Would you like to meet new people across organisational and faculty boundaries? Is HYY’s diverse organisational field close to your heart? The Student Organisations Committee is involved in activities ranging from street sitsit to rewarding the volunteers in organisations and training chairpersons.

The Evening involves getting to know each other, play something fun and have a good time in good company – responsibly remotely.

Committee will also have its 7th meeting of the year just before the New Members’ Evening, starting at 5pm. You are welcome to participate the meeting and see the upcoming events and news of the Autumn.

3 Organisation Contest and Organisation Gala 2020

Organisation Contests, organised by Student Organisations Committee are here again! The contest opens on 19 October and closes on 8 November. More information about the competition categories and how to participate will be sent out before the contest begins.

Save the date for the Organisation Gala, 18 November! Organisation Gala offers you lots of appreciation for all your hard work in good company! The winners of the organisation contests and the organisation heroes reported to us will also be announced during the evening!

5 Alina Hall booking rounds for spring 2021 will begin on 13 October

The booking rounds for Alina Hall for spring 2021 begin October 13th. The reservations are made through electronic forms during the booking rounds.

There are two official rounds: First booking round (20 October – 25 October) and second booking round (27 October – 1 November). There will also be an advance booking round (13 October – 18 October).

Each organisation can obtain a maximum of two (2) reservations to Alina for spring 2021. More specific information on the booking rounds as well as the links to the electronic forms will be sent out closer to the booking rounds.

6 Apply for furniture purchasing grant!

HYY supports furniture purchases for interior decoration in organisational premises. The grant is intended for organisations which primarily operate on HYY’s premises and the grant is mainly directed to the purchasing of tables, chairs, cupboards with locks and other interior items. The aim is that the furniture would increase the cosiness of the organisational premises and the willingness of organisations to look after their premises even better.

When allocating the furniture grant, we pay attention to the following: the ecological aspect, sustainability and necessity of the purchase. The furniture grant is not supposed to cover the entire purchase price but organisations are also expected to participate in the financing of the purchase.

The grant can be applied all year round. You can apply for the grant with an informal application, which should include the following information:
– applying organisation/organisations
– applied furniture
– budget
– reasons for the purchase

Applications can be submitted by e-mail to jarjesto(at)hyy.fi or by mail to the Student Union of the University of Helsinki, PL 1099, 00101 HELSINKI. Organisations that receive the grant must provide copies of the receipts to the same address no later than within four months after the allocation of the grant.
