THE CONTEST CATEGORIES

Overall badge of the year

Does your organization have that one shining star of the badge markets, the badge that everyone wants to have to decorate their overalls with? We are now looking for the most amazing, hilarious, the most clever or otherwise best badge.

You can participate in the contest by filling in the ‘Organisation contest 2019’ form and deliver either a physical badge to HYY Services office in an envelope saying ‘HYY’s Student Organisations Committe / Overall badge of the year’ or a photo of the badge to jarjestovaliokunta@hyy.fi. Both the envelope and the email needs to contain a covering letter with the name of the organisation and a name, an email and a phone number of a contact person. The delivered material will not be returned.

Organisation paper of the year

Does your organization have an organisation paper that immediately runs out when released, brings up new ideas for its readers or is groundbreaking in its ways? Will it be your paper that triumphs this year?

You can participate in the contest by filling in the ‘Organisation contest 2019’ form and delivering either a printed or a digital version of your paper from 2019. Printed papers need to be delivered to HYY Services office in an envelope, with ‘HYY’s Student Organisations Committe / Organisation paper of the year’ written on the envelope. Digital material needs to be send to jarjestovaliokunta@hyy.fi. Both the physical material and the email needs to contain a covering letter with the name of the organisation and a name, an email and a phone number of a contact person. The delivered material will not be returned.

Sitsi song of the year

Does your organization have a new sitsisong without which you cannot have a sitsit? Or a song that has replaced some of the traditional sitsisongs? HYY Student Organisations Committee is looking for a fresh sitsisong with fascinating and ingenious new lyrics, compelling new composition or otherwise a sitsisong that brings the atmosphere to a whole new level.

You can participate in the contest by filling in the ‘Organisation contest 2019’ form and delivering the lyrics and the melody to HYY Student Organisations Committee. It is also recommended to deliver a small sample of the song. The materials can be delivered either via email to jarjestovaliokunta@hyy.fi or to HYY Services office with a note saying ‘HYY Student Organisations Committe / Sitsi song of the year’. Both the physical version and the email needs to contain a covering letter with the name of the organisation and a name, an email and a phone number of a contact person. The delivered material will not be returned.

Organisational premises of the year

Are your organisation’s premises like a second home to your members and actives? Have you found astounding and innovative solutions to making your space functional or do you simply have the snuggliest little couch corner there is? If the answer is yes to any of the above let us know now! The premises can be on campus or off and can be one which several organisations use.

You can participate in the contest by filling in the ‘Organisation contest 2019’ form and sending a description of the premises with free-form justifications by email to jarjestovaliokunta@hyy.fi or, alternatively, physically to HYY’s Services Office during its opening hours. The physical description should be delivered in an envelope, with ‘HYY’s Student Organisations Committee / Organisational premises of the year’ written on the envelope. Both the email and the physical description should include the name of the organisation and the name and the address of the premises. Representatives of HYY’s Student Organisations Committee will visit all organisational premises submitted to us before selecting the winner. We will arrange each visit separately with the contact person.

Cooperation event of the year

Cooperation rocks! We are looking for cooperation between two or more organisations that is innovative, eye-opening or especially beneficial or gratifying to the members and participants. Both long-term cooperation and new partnerships are welcome to participate. You can participate with continuing long-term activity or a unique event or campaign.

You can participate in the contest by filling in the ‘Organisation contests 2019’ form and delivering a description of the acts or activities by email to jarjestovaliokunta@hyy.fi or, alternatively, physically to HYY’s Services Office during its opening hours. The desciption needs to include the names of the partaking organisations and the nature, time and place of the event. Photo and video material can be also included.

Career event or act of the year

Has your organisation organised a successful career event or done something else to commendably promote career issues related to students this year? The absolute size of the event does not matter – only its impact. This is assessed based on the kind of new awareness and new opportunities the event or act has provided for students in relation to working life. You can participate with continuing long-term activity or a unique event or campaign. If the event has been organised before, the application must state how this year’s event has succeeded in comparison to last year’s event.

You can participate in the contest by filling in the ‘Organisation contests 2019’ form and delivering a description of the acts or the event by email to jarjestovaliokunta@hyy.fi or, alternatively, physically to HYY’s Services Office during its opening hours. The description should include the names of the participating organisations, the contact persons as well as the type, date and location of the event.

Advocacy act of the year

HYY’s Studies Committee wants to encourage organisations and students to advocacy work and concrete acts aimed at improving student rights. The committee will thus award the ‘Advocacy Act of the Year’ prize to an educational policy hero! The contest is one of the Student Organisations Committee’s ‘Organisation contest 2019’ categories. Let us know about a super act in study advocacy work, a group with success in student representation, a stunning student representative in administration or a project that has improved your daily student life, for instance!

You can participate in the contest by filling in the ‘Organisation contests 2019’ form and delivering a description of the acts or activities by email to jarjestovaliokunta@hyy.fi or, alternatively, physically to HYY’s Services Office during its opening hours. CATEGORIES WHERE ‘EVERYONE IS THE WINNER’

Organisation heroes

Do you know an organisation active whose commitment, positive attitude or incredible innovativeness you admire? Now you have a chance to let us know who you think should earn the title of organisation hero in order for them to get recognition for their efforts! You can nominate the organisational hero by yourselves or as a group, for example as an organisation.

You can nominate an organisation hero by filling in the ‘Organisation heroes 2019’ form. Fill in both the heroes and your own contact information. You can freely describe the reasons for the nomination. Each Hero will be rewarded with a diploma with the description.

Ways to develop activities

Developing organisational activities is important for keeping the activities meaningful, for improving organisational culture and for the wellbeing of volunteers. Has your organisation come up with a great way to provide orientation for or thank its volunteers? Have you found a good way to maintain the wellbeing of the volunteers and support them in the hectic world of volunteer activities? Have you managed to dismantle a discriminatory or offensive operational structure? Our aim is to share good ways to develop organisational activities and pay attention to the wellbeing of volunteers in organisations. The acts do not need to be huge, but they should have resulted in some kind of an improvement.

Inform us about an act that has developed the activities by filling in the ‘Ways to develop activities’ form. Please fill in both the organisation’s and the contact person’s information and attach a short, free-form description of the implementation and effects of the act. The good practices will be shared in the Organisation Gala held on Wednesday 21 November.
