Join HYY’s Committees!

Would you like to be a part of HYY’s action and advocacy in a concrete manner? Join HYY’s committees!

The committees are starting their new operational period in September and you can easily get on board at the organisation meeting. Organisation meetings are held in Kabinetti at Mechelininkatu 3 D and on Zoom.

Our committees focus on brainstorming and developing activities for our Student Union’s different sectors. This translates to organising events, supporting organisations, conducting advocacy work related to educational policy and developing our University community, for instance. The committees are open to all our members, and you can join their activities at any point during the year.

Organisation meetings:

19 September at 3:30-5 PM Bilingualism Committee

The bilingualism committee works to make sure that HYY works for everyone, no matter their mother tongue. The committee works to bring Finnish and Swedish speaking students together, e.g. by arranging bilingual activities during HYY’s events.

21 September at 6-8 PM International Committee

The international committee is run by and for international and internationally-minded students. Their priority is the creation of a thriving student community at the University of Helsinki by advocating for the interests and inclusion of international students.

26 September at 6-7:30 PM Environmental Committee

The Environmental Committee organizes events and campaigns related to the environment, such as nature hikes, workforce excursions and food waste dinners. They promote sustainable values in our student community, raise awareness and urge people to act for the environment.

27 September at 5-6:30 PM Studies Committee

The Studies Committee is a place for all students interested in study affairs and educational policy to get information, form networks and discuss study affairs.

28 September at 6-7:30 PM Development Cooperation Committee

The committee is in charge of HYY’s cooperation development project, arranges events related to cooperation development, global education and maintains the discussion about the need for cooperation development.
