DESCRIPTION OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE BODY

The purpose of the Kumpula sports hall foundation is as follows:

  1. Supporting recreational activities related to sports and physical activity among the residents of Helsinki and the students and staff of higher education institutions in particular as well as intellectual and physical culture in Helsinki.
  2. To realise its purpose, the foundation maintains a sports hall on the Kumpula campus in Helsinki.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

The operations of the Kumpula sports hall foundation are managed by a board with 6–8 members whose term is three (3) calendar years. When a member resigns, a new member is appointed for the remainder of the term.

The particular duties of the board include the following:

The duties of the board of the foundation include approving the financial statement and annual report in the board’s annual meetings and deciding on the fees paid to members of the board and committees as well as the auditors. The board’s meeting language is Finnish.

Members of the board of the foundation have typically received a fee for serving in the position.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME?

The student representative must be a student registered for attendance at the University of Helsinki. No special skills are required – having the desire to learn and the motivation to serve as a student representative is of primary importance. Members need to read through the meeting material before the meetings. Discussing matters with the other members on the board and especially with the subject organisations in Kumpula when needed is quite enough to successfully navigate the meetings.

The selections for the Kumpula sports hall foundation are confirmed by HYY’s Board based on a proposal made by Matlu ry.
