The Student Union of the University of Helsinki (HYY) is a corporation subject to public law, with 26,000 university students as members. We act as an advocacy and service organisation for our members and the organisations operating under us.

 

We are looking for a specialist in organisations to join our ranks as a substitute on a fixed-term contract starting on 30 November or as agreed and ending on 28 May 2021.

 

Would you like to contribute to making students’ independent activities possible? Do you enjoy organising training sessions and events? Do you know student organisations’ activities, the Associations Act and the principles of good administration like the back of your hand? Would you like to further improve HYY’s organisational services? Are you also interested in developing student facilities, have experience of register maintenance and can communicate efficiently? If you answered yes to one or more questions, we want you!

Your duties as the specialist in organisations include planning and realising training, advice and communications aimed at organisations operating under HYY as well as the coordination and development of organisational services and grants in cooperation with the member of the Board in charge of organisations.

Your job also includes the maintenance of the Student Union’s organisational databases and the coordination of the allocation of organisational grants. The specialist also acts as a presenter for HYY’s Financial Committee on matters related to organisations and, for their part, ensures that organisations’ facility matters in HYY are taken care of.

A student union with around 250 organisations operating under us, some of which operate in Swedish or English.

An enthusiastic work community, consisting of 9 specialists and 12 members of the board among others, that gets things done together in a competent yet relaxed fashion.

 

We expect you to have:

  • Knowledge of student organisations and culture
  • Experience with the financial issues and administration of associations
  • Good IT skills
  • Stress tolerance
  • Good communication and interaction skills
  • A good command of Finnish
  • A good command of Swedish
  • A good command of English
  • Higher education studies
  • Experience of organising events or training sessions
  • The ability to manage large issues and absorb new information
