Student organisations’ event ideas lower the threshold for participation – The winners of HYY’s and the University’s competition have been selected

NEWS

In February, HYY and the University of Helsinki searched for student organisations’ best ideas for activities and events that can help them lower the threshold for participation.

The aim of the competition was to come up with ideas that encourage and inspire more students to participate in the organisations’ activities. The competition was open to all organisations operating under HYY.

Following organisations and ideas were selected as winners by the representatives of HYY and the University:

  • GangLion: Low-threshold event on campus
  • Kompleksi: Kompleksitreffit fair where the organization’s activities are presented from different perspectives
  • Lipidi: Playful Master Chef group competition
  • Wiipurilainen osakunta: Tutoring-like Apupyörä activity

The winners were selected on the basis of a detailed description of the event or activity idea: the winners’ applications carefully explained how and why the idea would lower the threshold for participation.  In addition, when selecting the winning ideas, emphasis was placed on how the idea would increase the sense of security to participate.

The winners will receive a prize of €500 each as well as support to refine and implement their idea or concept. You can find out more about the organisations’ events and activities during 2023 on the University’s Study Service and the Flamma intranet.

HYY and the University congratulate the winners and thank all participants for their applications!
