1. HYY’s Representative Council Elections 2024
You can vote electronically at vaalit.hyy.fi from Wednesday to Friday on 16–18 October and from Monday to Wednesday on 21–23 October at 9 AM to 8 PM. Voting is done using your University user account, and you are entitled to vote in the elections if you are a basic degree student and have registered for attendance or if you are a postgraduate or exchange student who has become a member of HYY.

How many voters are from your faculty?
The faculty organisation or similar body of the faculty with the highest voter turnout will receive a free Alina hall reservation. HYY will contact the winning organisation once the election results are confirmed. To the ballot box!

Post about the elections, win a free reservation of Alina Hall
Any organisation operating within HYY can share information about the elections by posting on their social media feeds using the hashtag #hyyvaalit. The deadline to participate is 23 October at 8, when the voting period ends. You can post on topics such as the candidates in your organisation, voting instructions, the election panel, other election-related events or hot election topics. HYY will contact the winning organisation in the same social media channel where they have posted once the election results have been confirmed.

2. Call for applications extended: become a student representantive!
We have extended the call for applications for some of the steering groups of degree programmes. We need your help to ensure that students’ voices are heard! Having student representation on the steering groups is crucial as they will begin updating the curricula right away. Check out the available positions and apply by October 22!

Do you know an organisation active whose commitment, positive attitude or incredible innovativeness you admire? Has someone been an exceptional defender of equality, and would you like for them to receive special recognition?

Have you come across a brilliant lecturer, a dedicated instructor an otherwise excellent teacher? HYY rewards this year’s best teacher, best international teacher and best instructor at the University of Helsinki. Send in your suggestions to us by 27 Oct!

5. Give feedback about the Opening Carnival and Fresher Adventure!
Thank you for participating in HYY’s Opening Carnival and Fresher Adventure! Both the Opening Carnival and Fresher Adventure have received mainly positive feedback from participants, and you deserve much of the credit for this! Help us make HYY’s events even better by giving us feedback on your experiences at your stands and checkpoints! You can submit feedback until 31 October.

6. Survey on member registers for organisations
HYY constantly develops its services for organisations based on feedback and the organisations’ needs. The aim of this survey is to chart the member registers used by organisations operating under HYY as well as satisfaction in the current system. Based on the survey, we will be charting organisations’ preliminary interest in a centralised member register solution.

7. Invitation to cocktail event: come and see Restaurant Domus
Are you planning an annual celebration, a sittning party or any other big event for your organisation? We would like to invite you to Restaurant Domus!
Venue: Restaurant Domus, Hietaniemenkatu 14, 00100 Helsinki
Date and time: Tuesday, October 22, 5 pm to 8 pm
The event offers the opportunity to look around the restaurant, taste the best pieces of the annual party menu in the form of cocktails, and learn more about how Domus could be suitable for your organisation’s celebrations and events. The invitation is for two guests.
Register by October 17. But hurry, because the number of seats is limited!

8. Register for English-language wellbeing and study skills courses
Would you like to learn ways to support your wellbeing and study skills? Can you identify where your stress is coming from?
These are some of the topics you can get support on through the courses offered by the University. Open to all university students, these courses are suitable for optional studies at bachelor or master level in any degree programme.
