Organisation Contest and Organisation Heroes 2020

Winners of the Organisation Contest and Organisation Heroes announced!

The winners of the organisation contest were selected in a selection event hosted by the Student Organisations Committee on Tuesday 10 November. Both the winners of the contest and all 17 brilliant organisation heroes were announced on Thursday 26 November in the live HYY152 Anniversary Broadcast. The winner of the ‘Overall badge of the year’ category was chosen during the broadcast in a vote between two finalists.

The organisation contest organised by HYY’s Student Organisations Committee is open until noon on 8 November!

This year, we are looking for winners in six different contest categories as well as for organisation heroes. Acts or works submitted to the contest must have been realised during the period 1 November 2019–31 October 2020.

Deadline for participating in the contest and nominating organisation heroes is at noon on 8 November. Late submissions will not be considered.

The winner of the contest will be selected in an event that is open to HYY’s members and the members of organisations operating under HYY. The event starts at 4.00 pm on 10 November and it is held in Zoom. Contest winners and organisation heroes will be announced at HYY’s Anniversary Broadcast on Thursday 26 November. Contest winners will recieve a prize of 100 euros each.

You can participate in the contest by filling in the ‘Organisation Contest 2020’ form and delivering needed materials.

  • Physical material needs to be delivered to HYY Services office. Please note that material must be at the Services Office by Friday 6 November. Write ’Student Organisations Committee / Category name’ on the envelope.
  • Digital material with a covering letter needs to be sent to Student Organisations Committee’s email jarjestovaliokunta@hyy.fi. Mention the name of the category on the title.
  • The covering letter needs to be send with both the physical and the digital material. The letter needs contain the name of the category and the organisation and a name, an email and a phone number of a contact person.
  • The delivered material will not be returned.

ORGANISATION HEROES

 

Do you know an organisation active whose commitment, positive attitude or incredible innovativeness you admire? Now you have a chance to let us know who you think should earn the title of organisation hero in order for them to get recognition for their efforts! You can nominate the organisational hero by yourselves or as a group, for example as an organisation.

You can nominate an organisation hero by filling in the ‘Organisation heroes 2020’ form. Fill in both the heroes and your own contact information. You can freely describe the reasons for the nomination. Each Hero will be rewarded with a diploma with the description.

 

THE CONTEST CATEGORIES

 

Organisation paper of the year

Does your organization have an organisation paper that immediately runs out when released, brings up new ideas for its readers or is groundbreaking in its ways? Will it be your paper that triumphs this year?

You can participate in the contest by filling in the ‘Organisation contest 2020’ form and delivering either a printed or a digital version of your paper to the Student Organisations Committee.


Overall badge of the year

Does your organization have that one shining star of the badge markets, the badge that everyone wants to have to decorate their overalls with? We are now looking for the most amazing, hilarious, the most clever or otherwise best badge.

You can participate in the contest by filling in the ’Organisation contest 2020’ form and deliver either a badge to the Student Organisations Committee. A good quality photo of the badge will do, too. You can also write a short introduction of the badge to the covering letter.

The finalists are chosen in a selection event organised on Tuesday 10 November. The winner will be selected from among the finalists in a during HYY’s Anniversary Broadcast on Thursday 26 November.


Sitsi song of the year

Does your organization have a new sitsisong without which you cannot have a sitsit? Or a song that has replaced some of the traditional sitsisongs? HYY Student Organisations Committee is looking for a fresh sitsisong with fascinating and ingenious new lyrics, compelling new composition or otherwise a sitsisong that brings the atmosphere to a whole new level.

You can participate in the contest by filling in the ‘Organisation contest 2020’ form and delivering the lyrics and the melody to the Student Organisations Committee. It is also recommended to deliver a small sample of the song. If it is a new composition, please deliver the sheet music too.


Advocacy act of the year

HYY’s Studies Committee wants to encourage organisations and students to advocacy work and concrete acts aimed at improving student rights. The committee will thus award the ‘Advocacy Act of the Year’ prize to an educational policy hero! The contest is one of the Student Organisations Committee’s ‘Organisation contest 2020’ categories. Let us know about a super act in study advocacy work, a group with success in student representation, a stunning student representative in administration or a project that has improved your daily student life, for instance!

Environmental act of the year

HYY Environmental Committee will award the ‘Environmental act of the year’ prize to an organisation that has taken the environment into account as part of its activities and developed environmentally friendly forms of operation or taken environmentally positive action. The action or form of operation is impactful, inventive and easily applicable. It is positive and encourages environmentally friendly activity among the organisation’s members. Share with us the best environmental act of the year!

Community act of the year

HYY’s Community Development Committee would like to call attention to the important work organisations do to promote communality at a time when the coronavirus situation has caused exceptional challenges for encounters between people, for instance. An exemplary act to bring the community together will be rewarded with the ‘Community act of the year’ award! What measures has your organisation taken to bring its members together and support one another? Let us know! We will be happy to share your stories with the entire University community.
