1 Janne Salokoski continues as permanent specialist in organisations

A couple of months back, we told you that I will be serving as Jaakko Kalske’s substitute as the specialist in organisations. However, as you can read above, the way in which events have unfolded means that Jaakko will not be returning to these duties, and I will be continuing in the position of specialist in organisations on a permanent basis instead. It is also our aim that the specialist in organisations would not be changing quite so frequently in the future – my email address, janne.salokoski@hyy.fi, will hopefully serve you for a long time. For my part, I am wishing you the best possible autumn with organisational activities, good luck with your autumn meetings and fresher events as well as election meetings full of joy. Let’s stay in touch!

2 Greetings from the outgoing specialist in organisations

Dear people involved in organisations,

My stint as the specialist in organisations officially ended on 1 July 2022 when I started working as the substitute for the chief financial and service officer. However, I still wanted to write you a short farewell message now that I am finally leaving HYY for other duties.

It has been a pleasure to get to work with you these few years. When I started work in spring 2018, there was no sign of the coronavirus or any other kind of state or other chaos we are now witnessing – but then again, people cannot choose the times they live in. Now that the shadow of the coronavirus has passed (or is at least receding), I am wishing you all an active and successful rebuilding of your activities. Many traditions may have disappeared and operating methods changed, but in many ways, this is also a good thing: new traditions are born, operating methods develop and new student generations get to rise to the occasion and leave their mark on student culture. The times are tough, but I have faith in your ability to create something new. You can do it!

Of course, I hope that you will follow all the rules that HYY has set for organisations, but above all, I am genuinely wishing you all the best for the future. Current student generations will be facing a great struggle with broad, difficult questions to answer, but I believe that organisational activities provide you with a good toolkit for dealing with them. I hope that you will soon realise this yourselves – I certainly have already!

As Commander Spock says in Star Trek, ‘live long and prosper’.

3 Reservation rounds for Alina Hall for spring 2023 to begin soon

Reservation rounds for Alina Hall for spring 2023 will begin with an advance reservation round starting at 12.00 noon on Monday 7 November. There are three (3) reservation rounds in total, and organisations can get a total of two (2) reservations during the rounds. Organisations should review the instructions for each reservation round carefully before filling in the form for reservation requests. An incorrectly completed form may negatively affect an organisation’s chances of receiving reservations.

Advance reservation round

Reservation period: 12.00 noon on 7 November–11.59 pm on 13 November

Reservation requests are processed on Monday 14 November

 

I round

Reservation period: 12.00 noon on 15 November–11.59 pm on 20 November.

Reservation requests are processed on Monday 21 November

 

II round

Reservation period: 12.00 noon on 22 November–11.59 pm on 27 November.

Reservation requests are processed on Monday 28 November

4 Report an organisation hero

Do you know an organisation active whose commitment, positive attitude or incredible innovativeness you admire? Now you have a chance to let us know who you think should earn the title of organisation hero in order for them to get recognition for their efforts! You can nominate the organisational hero by yourselves or as a group, for example as an organisation.

You can nominate an organisation hero by filling in the Organisation heroes 2022 form: https://link.webropolsurveys.com/S/5BC76A2760A15909

Fill in both the heroes and your own contact information. You can freely describe the reasons for the nomination. Each Hero will be rewarded with a diploma with the description.
