1. Changes in the opening hours (and location) of HYY’s Services Office May–June 2026
Changes in the opening hours (and location) of HYY’s Services Office May–June 2026
HYY is moving from the New Student House to Domus Gaudium in late spring 2026. As all HYY’s activities will be moving in connection to this, the move will also affect the opening hours of HYY’s Services Office.
HYY’s Services Office is closed on May Day but will be serving customers as usual during the week after May Day. On week 20, the Services Office is only open at the beginning of the week with reduced opening hours.
The Services Office is closed entirely from 14 to 29 May. During this period, services such as rental devices and products sold at the Services Office are not available.
Starting from 1 June, the Services Office will be located in the glass booth in the lobby of Domus Gaudium at Mechelininkatu 3, 00100 Helsinki. In June, the Services Office is open 1–12 June with reduced opening hours.
2. HYY will crown Havis Amanda on May Day Eve!
The programme at Havis Amanda starts at 4 pm, and the big moment will be at 6 pm, when she receives her cap. Come and join us!
The theme of the crowning is the Baltic Sea and its wellbeing. What could be a better place to turn our attention to the wellbeing of our home sea than a gathering of 80,000 people around Havis Amanda, a representation of the city of Helsinki rising from the Baltic Sea?
3. Would you like to showcase your activities to new students in autumn 2026?
HYY is organising or involved in the organisation of three events aimed at new students, and organisations operating under HYY are all very welcome to take part as well. You can use this form to sign up for the events of your choice all at once – and update your details later if needed.
The events:
- Check-in Event 26–27 August
- Opening Carnival 31 August
- Fresher Adventure 17 September
Registration using the form is open until 11.59 pm on 16 August. You can edit the checkpoint descriptions for the Fresher Adventure until 30 August. For the Check-in Event and the Opening Carnival, any edits made after 11.59 pm on 16 August will not be considered.
4. Join HYY’s International network!
We would like to invite you to participate in our brand-new International network!
The language of the chat is English. Discussions in the chat will be done according to HYY safer space principles and moderated by HYY.
The purpose of this network is to provide a low threshold communication channel, where internationality responsibles of organisations and international organisation actives can ask questions about spaces, tutoring, organisation administration ect. when information in English and/or in a form accessible to international students is difficult to find. This is also a great forum to share good practices your organisations have found to lower language barriers in your day-to-day activities and administration.
We have recognized that there are difficulties with the passage of information between generations of actives especially in English speaking organisations. We want to provide this resource to make organisation work a little more accessible for international students in the future <3
