Flora’s Day is a joint springtime celebration of the students of the University of Helsinki! This year we celebrate spring at the New Student House.
This year, we’ll be celebrating Flora together at the New Student House on 13 May from 12:00 noon to midnight—the last building-wide party. Organisations can sign up to join in organising the event’s programme until 7 April.
The programme can be anything at all, without any unnecessary pressure! We want participating in the event to be fun and beneficial for your organisation, for example from the perspective of member recruitment. The activities can be very light-hearted and reflect your organisation’s character. HYY does not expect organisations to spend money on the activities themselves or to handle catering or other tasks that are essentially the responsibility of the organisers. HYY will also be organising activities at the event.
Please note that during Flora, it is not possible to hold other events or gatherings at the New Student House to ensure safety (fire safety regulations). Access control will be in place at the New Student House throughout the event, so entry to the premises is not permitted without a ticket or prior authorization from the event organizer.
The event is organized by HYY, and HYY is responsible for the event. HYY handles the practical arrangements for the event and is responsible for safety, for example. HYY is responsible for both access control to the premises and general crowd control at the event. For individual venues, responsibility lies with the organisation running the programme there, but of course everyone in the building has passed through general access control.
HYY is responsible for cleaning the common areas. Of course, each organisation is responsible for keeping its own space clean. If an organisation holds an event in a space designated by HYY, such as the lobby, the organisation is responsible for keeping that space clean. In such a situation, however, the organisation is primarily responsible for any props or waste.
HYY has valid event insurance. Otherwise, we follow the Finnish Act on Damages at events, meaning that liability for damages lies with the person who caused the damage.
