Remember the review of general housing allowance!

Did you get a letter from Kela advising you to request a review of your general housing allowance? You should request the review as soon as possible through Kela’s customer service, for instance, so that the payment of your housing allowance will not be discontinued. If it gets discontinued, however, please note that you can get one month of allowance paid to you retroactively. Act soon!

General housing allowance is reviewed at least once a year, and for many students, this takes place in August–September. The housing allowance is reviewed earlier if your income increases by at least 400 euros per month or decreases by at least 200 euros per month. The review is also done if you move or if your household’s living costs increase by at least 50 euros. Kela performs the review, but you must always request it yourself.
