


Viena Pentikäinen joins HYY’s Board

The Board of the Student Union of the University of Helsinki has been reinforced with a new member. Viena Pentikäinen from the Independent Left was appointed to the Board in the Representative Council’s meeting on 12 September. Viena will be in charge of social policy.
In its meeting on 12 September, HYY’s Representative Council decided to supplement HYY’s Board with Bachelor of Social Sciences Viena Pentikäinen, who is currently a master’s student in politics and organisations. Viena will be in charge of social policy on HYY’s Board.
‘It is a massive honour to get to work on social policy. Students’ wellbeing and status are under increasing threat, highlighting the urgent need for HYY’s advocacy work. I am excited and flattered to get this chance to conduct this meaningful work’, Viena describes her feelings.
Viena has previously served as a member of the Representative Council, as the chair of the Independent Left’s Representative Council group and on the Board of Qaareva as well as acted in Valtsikan speksi.
Jonna Rajala, who was previously in charge of social policy, resigned from the Board in August.
