1 Sign up for HYY’s Chairpersons Seminar!

Welcome to the HYY’s Chairpersons’ Seminar on Wednesday 27 January! The seminar gathers chairpersons
from all various organisations operating within HYY, offers support, new ideas and tools to make your year as
chairperson as good as possible. All chairpersons and vice-chairpersons from all the organisations operating
within HYY are welcome to the event.

The event begins at 5 pm with a common session at the Zoom. After the common session each participant will
take part in two workshops of their choosing. Each workshop will last 50 minutes with a small break in-
between.

The event will be mostly in Finnish, but the workshops can also have English speaking groups (please choose
the option in the sign up form) and we will do our best to help you follow the event.

2 HYY’s equality guide and information on this year!

The year 2021 has already started and is well on the way! Here are a few things you should consider:

Last autumn we produced an equality guide for organisations! The guide is available on a brand-new Moodle
platform, where we intend to produce other training material for organisations in the future, too. The equality
guide features answers to the most frequent questions on equality related to organisations as well as tons of
information on the theme.

In other news, the Financial Committee has that we can already publish the allocation model for operating
grants at this point! You can check out the model here: https://hyy.fi/en/guides/grants-for-organisations
You should not worry about the model too much – our intention is simply that you know the questions based
on which we will be awarding the grants! You can already fill your updated info to TAHLO. The deadline for the
application for operating grants will be March 1 at 4pm.

The list below includes the preliminary dates of important events this year that concern all organisations. At
this point, the dates are tentative, but we will inform you of any changes to them in the usual manner on the
organisation list.

3 Apply for furniture purchasing grant!

HYY supports furniture purchases for interior decoration in organisational premises. The grant is intended for
organisations which primarily operate on HYY’s premises and the grant is mainly directed to the purchasing of
tables, chairs, cupboards with locks and other interior items. The aim is that the furniture would increase the
cosiness of the organisational premises and the willingness of organisations to look after their premises even
better.

When allocating the furniture grant, we pay attention to the following: the ecological aspect, sustainability and
necessity of the purchase. The furniture grant is not supposed to cover the entire purchase price but
organisations are also expected to participate in the financing of the purchase.

The grant can be applied all year round. You can apply for the grant with an informal application, which should
include the following information:
– applying organisation/organisations
– applied furniture
– budget
– reasons for the purchase

Applications can be submitted by e-mail to jarjesto(at)hyy.fi or by mail to the Student Union of the University
of Helsinki, PL 1099, 00101 HELSINKI. Organisations that receive the grant must provide copies of the receipts
to the same address no later than within four months after the allocation of the grant.

4 HYY’s Services Office will change location

The New Student House is undergoing renovations, and our Services Office will consequently move to the
Kaivopiha (near Silmäasema). Office is CLOSED 19-21 January 2021.
