1. Thank you for the organisation year 2026

In recent years, we’ve all lived through historic times across the world, but in a way typical for organisations, there’s only one thing to say about next year: ‘never stop the madness ja kohta vedetään taas!’

Next year is likely to be the most significant in decades for HYY’s organisation field. We have the opportunity to rebuild the way organisation premises are used. I want to believe that this truly is an opportunity, not a threat.

Already this year, in many discussions, I have noticed how ready you are to take action. Regarding the changes to organisation premises, the most common questions have been what size locker you’ll get and when you can start carrying things in. It’s important to give yourself time to process the changes, but I appreciate the readiness to adapt that you have shown.

It has been a pleasure to work with you this year, and I believe that next year, together with your successors (and probably most of you as well), will be another great year. We will get through the growing pains, and the result will be a HYY that serves organisations better than ever before.

Thank you, and let’s continue in the next year!

Janne Saranpää
Organisation Specialist
Student Union of the University of Helsinki

PS. The organisation sector is on holiday 22 Dec–6 Jan. It’s best to get in touch before then, or after that. If any message has gone unanswered, resending the email is probably a good idea!

2. HYY’s email list for organisations and other communication channels aimed at organisations 2026

We send out a newsletter to organisations operating under us by email 1–2 times a month. The newsletter includes current news on matters such as registrations, application periods, training events, maintenance operations and anything else we believe could be useful for people involved in organisations. The newsletter for organisations is sent out to all organisations that have filled in the contact details form for organisations. The newsletters for organisations are also published on HYY’s website, and we also communicate about them on HYY’s Instagram and the ‘HYYn järjestöinfo’ channel on Telegram.

The ‘HYYn järjestöinfo’ channel on Telegram is used to communicate briefly about current news. If we need to quickly inform organisations about a water outage or remind them of the reservation rounds for Alina Hall, the info channel is a less cumbersome communication channel than email.

HYY’s website is used to publish news on current affairs. The website includes a lot more than just content related to organisations, but all important news concerning organisations are also published on the website.

We have also collected a lot of useful information in HYY’s data bank for organisations. You can log in to the data bank with the username jarjestoinfo@hyy.fi (password: Sitruunapuu1234). We recommend using private browsing to log in to avoid possible login problems due to clashing O365 environments.

4. HYY’s services at the turn of the year

Our Services Office and our childcare service Little HYY are closed at the turn of the year.

  • The Services Office is closed between 17 December 2025 and 6 January 2026
  • Little HYY is closed between 22 December 2025 and 6 January 2026

5. Reservation rounds for Alina Hall and Sivistys sauna

The available dates are between 12 January and 17 May 2026. There will be two actual reservation rounds, preceded by an advance reservation round. An organisation may be granted one reservation for Alina and one for Sivistys during the reservation rounds. Any remaining free time slots can be reserved through HYY’s Services Office after the second actual reservation round.

6. Students’ Independence Day Torchlight Procession 6 December

Come and celebrate Finland’s Independence Day in the traditional torchlight procession and public celebration of the students of the Capital Region! The event is open to all students of the Capital Region.

All student organisations participating in the event use the same form to sign up. We will take all organisations that have signed up into consideration in the preparations for the procession in Hietaniemi.

Sign up your organisation by 3 December!

7. Check-in event 8 January 2026

Join the event and invite international students in your organisations’ activities! It is possible for student organisations within HYY to participate in the Check in event for exchange students (former Welcome Fair). At the event, international students get to know different services, for instance, HYY, UniSport and HSL. The event takes place at the Language Centre of the University of Helsinki (Fabianinkatu 26) on January 8 between 9 am and 17 pm.

Sign your organisation up at the latest on 17 December!
