Join a committee!

The committees are starting their new operational period and you can easily get on board at the election meeting. The committees are open to all our members, and you can join their activities at any point during the year.

Are you interested in internationality, the environment  or development cooperation? Join HYY’s Committees! Our committees focus on brainstorming and developing activities for our Student Union’s different sectors. This translates to organising events, supporting organisations, conducting advocacy work related to educational policy and developing our University community, for instance. The committees are open to all our members, and you can join their activities at any point during the year.

Election meetings

Development Cooperation Committee, 30 September at 6 pm, New Student House, 2nd floor

Do you want to make the world a better place? Are global responsibility and equality important to you? Join the Development Cooperation Committee!

The committee organises events related to development cooperation and global education as well as helps cultivate dialogue on development cooperation. In cooperation with SYL, the committee also coordinates development cooperation projects in Zambia and Ethiopia in support of disabled higher education students.

Environmental Committee, 1 October at 6 pm, New Student House, 2nd floor

Do you have a passion for climate issues? Are you interested in interdisciplinary cooperation with other students who share the same interests as you? Come join us!

The Environmental Committee organizes events and campaigns related to the environment, such as nature hikes, workforce excursions and food waste dinners. We promote sustainable values in our student community, raise awareness and urge people to act for the environment. Volunteering in a committee is also a great way to learn valuable work skills in a relaxed and supporting environment. Come save the world with us!

International Committee, 7 October at 6 pm, Wilhelmsson Hall at New Student House, 5th floor

The international committee is run by and for international and internationally-minded students. Our priority is the creation of a thriving student community at the University of Helsinki by advocating for the interests and inclusion of international students.

You get to be part of an active and engaged community, wanting to build a sustainable and inclusive student community at the University of Helsinki.
