HYY’s change negotiations have ended
The change negotiations of HYY’s operating finances have ended. On 21 September, HYY initiated a change negotiation process adhering to the Co-operation Act on financial and production-related grounds as well as grounds arising from the restructuring of the employer’s operations. The negotiations lasted slightly over two weeks.
As a result of the change negotiations, HYY is downsizing its Central Office by a total of 1.5 person-workyears. This decision leads to HYY abolishing the position of community specialist. HYY is also reforming its communication by adopting collaborative visual communication tools, resulting in the position of art director being made part time and in changes in the job descriptions on the communication sector. The lay-off, shift to part-time work and changes in job descriptions allow HYY to achieve the goals set for the change negotiations.
The preparation of the 2024 budget will continue according to our statutory process, and the secretary general’s proposal for the 2024 budget will be published by 1 November 2023. In total, HYY is seeking to make savings of nearly half a million euros to its operations in 2024. Underlying the weakened financial situation are the financial challenges and radical changes in the operating environment of Ylva, the group owned by the Student Union. These have a significant impact on the amount of profits the group can distribute to the Student Union.
