1. Do you want to celebrate May Day in organisational premises?

Traditionally, our answer to this has been ‘too bad – you cannot’. This year, we may make exceptions to this. Get the organisations of your building together, make a plan for a safe and controlled event and submit your proposal to HYY by 5 April – your event just might come to life!

2. Flora 13 May: Sign up your organisation!

This year, we’ll be celebrating Flora together at the New Student House on 13 May from 12:00 noon to midnight—the last building-wide party. Organisations can sign up to join in organising the event’s programme until 7 April.

The programme can be anything at all, without any unnecessary pressure! We want participating in the event to be fun and beneficial for your organisation, for example from the perspective of member recruitment. The activities can be very light-hearted and reflect your organisation’s character. HYY does not expect organisations to spend money on the activities themselves or to handle catering or other tasks that are essentially the responsibility of the organisers. HYY will also be organising activities at the event.

Please note that during Flora, it is not possible to hold other events or gatherings at the New Student House to ensure safety (fire safety regulations). Access control will be in place at the New Student House throughout the event, so entry to the premises is not permitted without a ticket or prior authorization from the event organizer.

3. Suggest a candidate for equity and diversity award!

The Maikki Friberg Award is granted annually for notable work towards the promotion of equity at the University of Helsinki. All members of the University community may suggest award candidates and also propose themselves for the award. The award sum is 6000 euros. Submit your suggestions by 26 March.

4. Would you like to sell your organisation’s overall badges through HYY’s Services Office?

Does your organisation have gorgeous overall badges but no opportunities to sell them? We have a solution for you! HYY is launching an overall badge brokerage service, allowing organisations operating under it to have their badges sold at HYY’s Services Office. HYY will take a 10% commission on sold badges to cover the costs caused by the brokerage. Sales revenue will be paid to the organisations twice a year.
