Hi! We are the Student Union of the University of Helsinki, but our friends call us HYY. We are a corporation subject to public law with 27,000 university students as members. We act as an advocacy and service organisation for our members and the organisations operating under us.
Would you like to plan and develop impactful, student-friendly events for a community of 27,000 university students? Have you earned your spurs in the event activities of student organisations? Do you already have experience of organising notable student events? Do you enjoy project management and working with volunteers? Are you familiar with the basics of social media and event communications? Would you like to level up your skills? If you answered yes to these questions, we would like to have you as part of our relaxed and skilful work community!
We are looking for a producer to join our ranks as a substitute for the duration of a work leave, starting as soon as possible or as agreed and ending on 18 October 2020.
As our producer, you will be responsible for producing the largest events of the Student Union, such as the Tutor and Fresher Adventures, the Opening Carnival and Flora’s Day as well as for the management and budgets of projects related to the productions. You will be in active contact with the Student Union’s interest groups at the University of Helsinki, for instance, and will independently develop the Student Union’s event activities in cooperation with members of HYY’s Board and our volunteers. You will communicate about the events actively and enthusiastically. In addition to organising culture events, you will be in charge of the reception of tutors and new students at the University.

- An innovative, efficient and progressive reformer of student culture
- An enthusiastic work community, consisting of 8 specialists and 12 members of the board among others, that gets things done together in a competent yet relaxed fashion
We expect you to have:
- Basic knowledge of student culture and events
- Interest in organising the reception of tutors and new students
- Communication skills and the desire to develop as a communicator
- Precision in your work and the ability to manage large issues and projects
- The desire to improve as an event production professional
- An independent approach as well as leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills
- Higher education studies
A good command of Swedish and English is considered an additional advantage.
Familiarity with events organised by HYY is also considered a special advantage.
