The Board of the Student Union of the University of Helsinki is making a proposal on real estate transactions concerning significant properties to HYY’s Representative Council

In its meeting on 4 November 2025, the Board of the Student Union of the University of Helsinki decided to submit a proposal on real estate transactions concerning significant properties to HYY’s Representative Council. A meeting of HYY’s Representative Council has been convened for 5.30 pm on 12 November 2025 to address the proposal.

HYY and Ylva will not comment on the decision-making material or the real estate transactions before the meeting. The items concerning the sale of significant properties in the Representative Council’s meeting constitute business secrets as defined in the Act on the Openness of Government Activities, Section 24, subsection 1, paragraph 17, and will be discussed behind closed doors.

We will inform our members and organisations about the decision made in the Representative Council’s meeting along with its potential effects on premises available to HYY’s organisations collectively on the evening of 12 November, after the Representative Council meeting has ended.

We ask organisations to follow HYY’s own communication and to contact HYY’s secretary general and chief financial and service officer in case of any questions. Waiting for the decisions in this situation is annoying and frustrating, and it is awkward to have to repeat ourselves to once again state that we will inform you as soon as we have something new to tell. Regardless, we promise to do so as soon as we receive the information on the decisions and their potential effects.

Finally, we want to let you know that HYY will organise the following separate info sessions for organisations:

Info session on Monday 17 November, 3–4 pm (in Finnish)
