HYY - The Student Union of the University of Helsinki

Welcome to Finland!

HYY is arranging a welcome event for new international students. Come try different Finnish snacks, test your knowledge of Finnish life, and get to know other international students!

The event will be held on 10 September at 5-7 pm at Alina Hall, New Student House (3rd floor). New Student House is located at Mannerheimintie 5A.

The event is free, but you should sign up for the event by 7 September. Signing up for the event helps the organisers getting enough snacks for everyone!

Accessibility at the event

We hope that you sign up for the event. The event does not have an entrance fee. Assistants and interpreters can join the event for free.

At HYY’s events, you can participate in discussions and activities without fear of inappropriate treatment or harassment. Safe space is created in the interaction between people, and each one of us is responsible for this.

The language used in the event is English.

Alina Hall is located on the 3rd floor of the New Student House at Mannerheimintie 5 A. The location has good public transport connections from the Helsinki central railway station, for instance, where you can arrive by bus, metro or tram. Read more about the accessibility of public transport on HSL’s website.

  • An induction loop borrowed from our Services Office can be used on the premises. Please let us know if you need to use an induction loop in advance by contacting the event’s contact person.
  • The space may become hot or crowded with a lot of participants.
  • The space may have bright lights, loud noises or strong smells. There is no separately reserved silent room to retreat to next to the space.
  • You can bring an assistance or guide dog into the space.
