This policy has been created in reference to the website hyy.fi of Student Union of the University of Helsinki and was created on the 12th of December 2023. Student Union of the University of Helsinki strives for offering accessible and intuitive online services to their customers, even though their service isn’t subject to the Web Accessibility Directive.
The accessibility of this online service has been reviewed by an external accessibility expert on 26.10.2023.
Results of the accessibility audit have been noted in the development of this online service and Student Union of the University of Helsinki has taken actions towards fulfilling the criteria. This policy will be updated as the online service is being improved.
The online service partially meets the A and AA-level accessibility requirements, as outlined in the WCAG 2.1 guidelines.
Below is a more detailed breakdown of the identified deficiencies.
The website is not yet fully compliant.
Accessibility requirements that are not met:
- 1.1 Non-text Content
Provide text alternatives for non-text content. Additional images like maps for events have neither text alternative nor description. Also article images are missing alt text and copy headings instead. However, purely decorative images do not necessarily require text alternatives.
Additionally, users might encounter some accessibility issues whilst using the online service, which weren’t found during the auditing process or have appeared later, when new content and/or functionality has been added in.
