1. Fresher Adventure Afterparty - you can still get your tickets!

You can still get your tickets to the Fresher Adventure Afterparty - one of the largest and most interdisiplinary party of the year! The Fresher Adventure Afterparty is held at the Circus and the party includes the revealing of the winners of the adventure, interesting stuff to do and the performance of one of Finland’s biggest pop-stars: Mikael Gabriel! Party music is provided by Suomen Suurimmat DJs: Ottopetteri and Skenikswee.
Participate in the “Master of The Afterparty”-challenge. Complete easy tasks and get a badge and a cool light sword! There will also be KARAOKE at the venue!

2. Arrange a HYY150 X Organisation party and win a sauna night at Sivistys!


The HYY150 Anniversary year culminates in the unforgettable Anniversary weekend on the 24th and 25th of November. We encourage every organisation to join us for the most epic weekend of all time! Celebrations begin on Saturday with the dinner party at the Old Student House, continue throughout the night with the HYY150 Birthday Party at the Circus and conclude on Sunday with the HYY150 Sillis, where students and alumni celebrate together in a relaxed atmosphere.
 
Each HYY member and organisation within HYY should be able to take part in this great celebration, but unfortunately there is only a limited number of seats at the dinner party. By organizing a personalized HYY150 X Organisation party for members of your organisation, we can all celebrate our 150-year-old student union everywhere around Helsinki simultaneously. Celebrations do not have to be formal – they can be whatever suits you best: a cocktail party, sitsit or a casual get-together while playing some Anniversary bingo? You decide!
 
You will also be able to follow a livestream of the Old Student House anniversary celebrations and attend the party from wherever you celebrate. Short video greetings from all the different celebrations will be shown at the Old Student House in true Eurovision Song Contest fashion. Each of the HYY150 X Organisation parties will be placed on a map so we can all follow how, where and by whom HYY’s anniversary is being celebrated. After the HYY150 celebrations, the evening continues with the sparkling HYY150 Birthday Party at the Circus. Organisations can buy more affordable ticket packages for the Birthday Party on the 17th of October and onwards.


3. The #HYYtymättömät blood donation campaign begins on 1 October 2018!


HYY and Konstruktio challenge all organisations to donate blood between 1 October and 30 November 2018!

The organisations that donate the most blood both quantitatively and in proportion to their number of members will get to use HYY’s Sivistys sauna as their prize.

Participation is easy!
1. Either register a BloodGroup for your organisation at www.veripalvelu.fi/ryhmat or update your already existing group by sending email to sanomatalo.verenluovutus@veripalvelu.fi.

2. Reserve a donation time for your group by sending email to sanomatalo.verenluovutus@veripalvelu.fi and test your suitability as a donor at www.sovinkoluovuttajaksi.fi.

3. Mention your organisation’s name at your donation location. You will receive an overall badge and add your visit to your organisation’s visits.

4. Event safety training 8 October at Wilhelmsson Hall



What should you do if a participant reports a case of harassment, someone acts aggressively or a board member has a panic attack in your organisation’s event? What do persons in charge of event safety do, and how can appointing one improve event safety?

HYY is organising a training session on acting as the person in charge of event safety for organisations that operate under HYY. You can participate in the session even if your organisation has not yet appointed separate persons in charge of safety for its events. In the training session, we will go through the most common problems and dangerous situations as well as how to react in case of emergency. We will also look at the safety principles used in HYY’s events, which organisations may base their own on.

Would your organisation like to come and present its activities at the ‘Koe kampus!’ (Experience the campus!) event for general upper secondary school students interested in the University of Helsinki on Thursday 25 October 2018?
The event is organised simultaneously on the campuses of the City Centre (Think Corner / Porthania and Siltavuorenpenger), Kumpula and Viikki. The campus whose programme you will be included in is based on the faculty and/or place of operation of the subject organisation you represent.

MobilePay MyShop is an easy way to receive payments, and it provides a way to minimise the costs and inconvenience caused by using cash. The solution makes paying easier and cheaper, as you only need to register for the service and have a smartphone or tablet to receive payments!
MyShop works very well in contexts such as selling event tickets or overall badges and collecting participation fees or coffee donations – there are unlimited ways to use it!

1. Apply for furniture purchasing grant!


HYY supports furniture puchases for organisational premises. The grant is intended for organisations which primarily operate in HYY premises and the grant is mainly directed to purchasing tables, chairs, cupboards with locks and other decoration supplies. This grant has no deadline. It can be freely applied for through the Secretary for Organisational Affairs when necessary.

The aim is that furniture would increase the cosiness of organisational premises and the willingness of organisations to look after their premises even better.

Applications which specify the need for furniture and the formalities connected with purchases can be sent by e-mail to jarjestosihteeri(at)hyy.fi or by mail to Helsingin yliopiston ylioppilaskunta, PL 1099, 00101 HELSINKI.

3. Meeting of equality chairs 18 September at 5:30 PM


Welcome to the second meeting of equality chairs on September 18 at 5:30 PM. The meeting will take place at HYY’s central office at the New Student House, in meeting room Topelius. The meeting is aimed at organisation actives working with equality and safety in their organisations and at anyone interested in equality no matter which position they may have!

How has the semester begun? How has the integration of the freshers played out? Is there something you still would like to improve in your organisation? Is there something you wish the student union would support you with? The meeting is about discussing these topics and everything you would like to talk about! We will also briefly present HYY’s event principles and the event safety manual that we have been working on for the spring.

4. Mandatory info meeting for Fresher Adventure’s checkpoint hosts September 11th


HYY is organising a mandatory info event for all checkpoint hosts, held at 6 pm on 11 September at Wilhelmsson Hall in the New Student House. In the event, we will provide information on the Fresher Adventure mobile app, the scorekeeping system and about security in the Fresher Adventure. The checkpoint info is also an excellent place to ask us any other questions you might have about the event. Ticket sales to the stunning Fresher Adventure afterparty open at noon Friday, 7 September! The afterparty has sold out year after year, so we recommend getting your tickets as soon as you can on Friday! Only competitors or checkpoint hosts participating in the Fresher Adventure may buy tickets to the Fresher Adventure afterparty. When buying tickets, you must tell us the name of the team or the organisation hosting the checkpoint. Each participant may only buy one ticket to the afterparty. 6. Become a volunteer in the Fresher Adventure!


Is your organisation not participating this year or maybe you've already been a checkpoint host and want to try something new? We are looking for skilled and energetic volunteers to help organise the the most important event of the fresher autumn. Join us in welcoming new students, celebrating our community and let’s show freshers all the incredible things that student life has to offer!

To make the Fresher Adventure as successful as possible for its participants, we are looking for volunteers to help us at the start, as checkpoint guides at the checkpoint areas and to make the dazzling afterparty at The Circus possible.
Volunteers have free admission to the afterparty of the Fresher Adventure, they will be provided with a meal and they will receive the special Freshman Adventure Crew overall badge. Volunteers will also receive a certificate for their volunteer work if they want it.
