The Board of the Student Union of the University of Helsinki has appointed Siiri Salo (B.A.) as communication officer for the fixed period of 2 June 2016–17 February 2017. Salo will cover for the current communication officer during his study leave.
The communications officer is in charge of HYY’s diverse communications and supports the entire Student Union’s advocacy work: they inform our members of services, events and advocacy work as well as advertise these matters in print, on the web and on the University’s walls and notice boards. The communications officer is in charge of maintaining and reforming HYY’s website. They develop and manage HYY’s social media, write notices, edit statements and produce publications from ideas right up to print. They are also the internal trainer at HYY for both the board and specialists, constantly consulting their work community on issues related to communication.
Salo, 27, has previously worked in communications at the Criminal Sanctions Agency and Lahti Energia. She has also written for several years for the local newspaper Vaasan Ikkuna in the city of Vaasa. Salo has also been member of the Student Union of the University of Vaasa Representative Council. She’s a Communication Studies major in the University of Vaasa.
