Does reserving meeting facilities feel difficult? Was your organisation not aware that HYY offers project grants for organisations’ projects? Did you not know who you can ask for advice on finalising financial statements? Have you thought of a new organisational service that HYY could offer to organisations operating under it? This is your chance to influence these and numerous other issues.
Respond to HYY’s organisational services survey, organised as part of HYY’s service design project this year. The results of the organisational services survey will be used in the development of HYY’s organisational services and in brainstorming possible new services.
All active members of organisations operating under HYY can respond to the survey. Completing the survey takes around 15–30 minutes. Two free Sivistys reservations will be raffled off among the organisations that respond to the survey. The survey is open until 22 April 2019.
How could your organisation or community be even more appealing, more inclusive and how to better take diversity into consideration when planning events? How could your community be even better and welcoming for all?
HYY organises an equality and inclusiveness themed training evening at Siltavuorenpenkere on 15 April. All organisation actives and other interested in the topic are welcome to join!
The event aims to offer new insights on the various ways of how to make an organisation or community and its actions as equal and inclusive as possible. The event is also a perfect chance for newly elected board members and actives to get a headstart and absorb ideas for the upcoming year.

Now there is a good opportunity to do an eco action and to fill the coffers of your organisation! HYY declares a competitive bidding for organisations for cleaning Ullanlinnanmäki after May Day.
The organisation must commit to provide the full contribution of at least ten people. Cleaning will take place on Wednesday 2 May, approx. From 7am to 2pm.
Bids by 10 am Tuesday 16 April to Riikka Hakala (riikka.hakala(a)hyy.fi). If two organisations make the same bid, the organisation who made the bid first will win. The organisation with the best bid will be contacted on Tuesday 16 April.
The Student Organisations Committee’s new seminar aims to help organisational actors reach the point where their organisation’s affairs are in order during the spring so that they can start the summer vacation in high spirits. We will also focus on how organisations can best prepare for the coming and often very busy autumn.
The event is aimed especially at organisations’ chairs and vice chairs as well as secretaries and treasurers.

Flora’s Day, the joint springtime celebration of the students and staff of the University of Helsinki, is celebrated at 4–8 pm on 10 May 2019 on the City Centre campus, in the yard of the Faculty of Social Sciences and the premises of the Swedish School of Social Science. You can expect music, food and a spring-themed programme. You can also take part in faculty tours around the campus, which have separate registration.
We can accommodate the first 400 members of HYY to sign up. Sign-ups open at noon on 15 April. Be alert, as the quotas will fill up super fast as usual!

In the meeting, we will discuss updating the Alina Hall info booklet and training materials as well as the ‘Organisations into Summer Shape’ seminar, which will be organised for the first time this spring. We will also go through the committee’s upcoming events and other current issues.

HYY supports furniture purchases for interior decoration in organisational premises. The grant is intended for organisations which primarily operate on HYY's premises and the grant is mainly directed to the purchasing of tables, chairs, cupboards with locks and other interior items. The aim is that the furniture would increase the cosiness of the organisational premises and the willingness of organisations to look after their premises even better.
When allocating the furniture grant, we pay attention to the following: the ecological aspect, sustainability and necessity of the purchase. The furniture grant is not supposed to cover the entire purchase price but organisations are also expected to participate in the financing of the purchase.
In spring 2019 approx. 1500 € of furniture purchase grant will be given out.
This grant has no deadline. It can be freely applied for through the specialist of organisational affairs when necessary. You can apply for the grant with an informal application, which should include the following information:
- applying organisation/organisations
- applied furniture
- reasons for the purchase
Applications can be submitted by e-mail to jarjesto(at)hyy.fi or by mail to the Student Union of the University of Helsinki, PL 1099, 00101 HELSINKI. Organisations that receive the grant must provide copies of the receipts to the same address no later than within four months after the allocation of the grant.
